About

Taylor Marshall Keen, MSN, CRNA, APRN, dedicated her life to caring for others through the art and science of nurse anesthesia. She devoted her career to providing calm, expert care in moments when patients needed it most. A graduate of the University of Delaware and Drexel University, Taylor practiced as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and later at Beebe Healthcare. After bravely battling breast cancer, Taylor passed away in 2024. Yet her impact lives on in every patient she cared for, every colleague she supported, and every aspiring healthcare professional she inspired.

Through the Delaware Institute for Healthcare Education Advancement (DIHEA), the Taylor Marshall Keen CRNA Scholarship is established to uniquely designed to reflect Taylor’s dedication, excellence, and commitment to community and nurse anesthesia.

Criteria and additional information

Criteria include:

Applicant must be a Delaware Association of Nurse Anesthetists Resident member
Applicant must submit a completed TMK application, including a list of student involvement and accomplishments (awards, publications, community service, professional organization participation)
Provide a minimum 1000-word essay outlining why nurse anesthesia was chosen as a profession and detailing future professional goals
Have a primary clinical site at a hospital in Delaware
Attach a statement from the Program Director confirming good standing in the program
Must have completed at least 6 months of courses in an accredited CRNA program by the application deadline

The scholarship is available to all nurse anesthesia residents currently enrolled in an accredited nurse anesthesia program. Residents must be in good standing within their program and meet the specific scholarship requirements outlined in the application. If the essay is less than 1000 words, your entire application will be rejected. Once you submit your application, you will receive an emailed acknowledgment.

Please do not contact the DIHEA office regarding receipt of your application. Our goal is to email winner and non-winner notifications by the end of CRNA week 2027, with all notifications being sent on the same day.

Educational Achievements

Taylor Marshall Keen, MSN, CRNA, APRN graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, Delaware demonstrating early academic dedication. She then attended the University of Delaware, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2002. Committed to furthering her expertise, Taylor continued her education at Drexel University, obtaining a Master of Science degree in Nurse Anesthesia in 2010.

Professional Career

Following her advanced studies, Taylor began her career as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford, Delaware. She later continued her professional journey with Beebe Hospital in Lewes, Delaware, where she contributed her skills and experience in the field of anesthesia.

Legacy and Scholarship

Taylor Marshall Keen bravely battled breast cancer and sadly passed away in 2024. In recognition of her dedication and impact, a scholarship has been established in her name through the Delaware Institute for Healthcare Education Advancement (DIHEA). Taylor’s passion for the field of anesthesia was evident throughout her career, and she remained deeply committed to supporting and advancing the profession. This scholarship honors her enduring love for nurse anesthesia and her unwavering support for those pursuing careers in this vital field.
