ABOUT NURSES & NEIGHBORS COLLABORATIVE INC.

 We are a 501 C(3) non-profit neighborhood nursing group with members from different places with different experiences. We use our collective nursing experience to help improve health and wellness of our neighborhoods and provide support for nurses in our communities through nurse-led projects.  

Nurses & Neighbors was founded in 2022 by 7 nurses in one neighborhood. The founders are licensed or retired/volunteer nurses who actually live next door to each other. We also started networking on the local platform “Nextdoor”. It eventually evolved to a group of nurses who wanted to help  improve the health and wellness of their neighbors and to support nurses in surrounding communities. 

In July 2022, we incorporated our informal nursing group in Delaware. We  called ourselves Nurses & Neighbors Collaborative Inc. to  welcome our community partners and invite our neighbors to join our work and mission.  We are a 501 C (3) non-profit recognized by the IRS. Nurses in our group initiated projects that align with their own interests and our group's mission. Some projects focus on a single neighborhood while others require long term planning, advocacy, and policy changes that impact the health and wellness of a larger population.

 Nurses & Neighbors is a 2024 Lt. Governor Wellness Challenge ‘Community Spotlight’ recipient and a 2023 AARP Community Challenge Grantee.  We have active members in 3 neighborhoods and we are growing.   We have built strong relationships with HOAs, community-based organizations and public health agencies.  We are a member of  the Delaware Respite Coalition, Volunteer Delaware, Advancing Healthy Lifestyle Coalition, Health Literacy Council of Delaware and the Delaware Caregiver Action Network.

Our group works with the homeless, volunteers in vaccination clinics, presents health information to community groups, and serves as volunteer nurses  in partnership with community-based organizations and national organizations.  We rely on donations, grants, our collective nursing experience,  and the reputation of the nursing profession as the most trusted professionals for 22 consecutive years to achieve our mission.
